Description of Work:
From 1988 through 1999 K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. provided professional services to the City of South Tahoe for Phase 1 of the City’s redevelopment project.

Redevelopment Phase 1 included the Embassy Suites Hotel, the Embassy Vacation Resort, McDonald’s, and the Fantasy Inn. The project also included the Ski Run Water Quality Improvement Project; Traffic Signals on Highway 50 at the California/Nevada state line and at Ski Run Boulevard; and the Highway 50 Linear Park project.

K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. prepared topographic and boundary surveys; civil engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for construction of all these projects and improvements. K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. also processed project approvals through TRPA, Caltrans, and the California Regional Water Quality Control Board – Lahontan Region. K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. also assisted with construction management which included construction staking. The projects included extensive coordination with the project architect, landscape architect, the City of South Lake Tahoe Redevelopment Agency, the utility companies, and the public for planning purposes. K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. prepared the Environmental Documentation for the Ski Run Water Quality Improvement Project. K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. also prepared a Caltrans Project Study Report for Highway 50. K.B.Foster Civil Engineering, Inc. prepared the hydrology and hydraulics reports for all the projects.

The projects included grading, drainage, SEZ restoration, Best Management Practices (BMP), utilities, parking improvements, highway improvements, bike trails, traffic signals, and site design. The intersection of Highway 50 and Ski Run Boulevard included the addition of turning lanes and a new traffic signal in compliance with Caltrans Design Standards. The Highway 50 Linear Park project included a bike trail with a wooden bridge crossing the restored SEZ.
